Satellite view of snow over Western Cape 2 Jul 2016

This Morning’s Terra Modis satellite overpass (10.55am on Sat 2nd) gives an excellent view of the snow over the entire Western Cape (and surrounding areas). Falls were very heavy at higher elevations (above 1500m), but very light lower down. The number of mountain ranges with snow cover are too numerous to mention, but include (from N to S, then W to E): Cederberge (Citrusdal), Winterhoek (Tulbagh) and Gydo (Ceres), Brandwacht and Hex River (Worcester) and Matroosberg, Bains Kloof and Du Toits Peak (Paarl), Hottentots Holland and Wemmershoek (Franschhoek), Riviersonderend Mts (Robertson) and Langeberge (Swellendam), Klein and Groot Swartberge (Oudtshoorn), further inland is the Sutherland Plateau.…
