Below you will find my personal collection of cloud photographs taken from all around South Africa. I have been photographing clouds since 2003, and they have always been of interest to me. Most of the world will not look twice when they see a towering cumulus in the summer heat, thousands will pass under a mammatus sky and not even notice the amazing phenomena present right above them. Some of these photographs may not be the best around, but in most cases they will be a piece of weather history, typically from Cape Town. I attempt to document every cumulonimbus cloud which is clearly visible from my location, this isn't too difficult given that Cape Town sees extremely limited strong convection and cumulonimbus clouds are quite rare. Though I tend not to limit myself completely to storm related clouds. You will likely come across other interesting and rare clouds in this gallery, they could be a sky filled with an altocumulus blanket or perhaps some eerie and unusual lenticular clouds. Either way I hope you enjoy this ever expanding gallery.
