A low pressure system is currently situated around the North West province which has been pulling moisture down from the north into areas such as Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, North West Province and part of the Free State. This set up will allow for showers and thundershowers with fairly decent rainfall totals of near 10mm per 24 hours for many parts. After that the low will head south and thus thundershowers will slowly let up in some of the above areas as a few showers will remain for a few days. While earlier the models had shown the low heading south and forming into a fairly decent strength cut-off low over the Western Cape which would have provided a chance for showers and thundershowers for Cape Town, but as it stands now the latest model guidence is showing the low weakening as it heads south diminishing the chance for showers and thundershowers for Cape Town.
